The team

Veeretked was born from a wish to share a passion for being on the water.

Our mission is simple: to bring adventure and nature together. We work with certified guides and deliberately keep our groups small, so every journey stays personal, safe and genuinely immersive — from the rivers of Estonia all the way to the wild rapids of Lapland.

My love of the outdoors began in childhood, when I was taken through forests and bogs at a time when RMK campsites and marked hiking trails were still a rarity. Even back then I felt there was something especially thrilling about being on the water — every bend in the river brings its own small adventure and a change of scene.

Today I spend much of my free time on the water. I am training as a guide at VOCO and hold an official water-touring guide qualification (EstQF level 4). Most often I travel by kayak or raft — they carry me down both calm rivers and fast-flowing rapids. In my daily work I am a physical education teacher and a youth coach, which has given me deep experience of working with children. I am always glad to organise water trips for young people and to teach them water safety and the basics of paddling technique.

Because Estonian rivers are often too calm for rafting, I have discovered Lapland for myself. Its crisp climate, pristine nature and adrenaline-charged rapids deliver powerful experiences.

But why the raft? As a child I rafted on the village pond with a homemade raft, and the deepest mark of all was left by the story of Huckleberry Finn and his adventures down the Mississippi. That bug has stayed with me ever since — and the feeling has only grown.

Every trip should hold something to learn from. That is why I always look for a story or a piece of history tied to the destination. One of my little hobbies is trail food too — a pot bubbling over the fire and a warm meal after a long day on the water is the best way to lift the spirits of tired travellers.

I am a country child — I grew up among strawberry fields and willow-thicket forest, on the shore of a moody Lake Peipus that wears a different face every day. As the story goes, I learned to swim and to climb trees before I learned to walk on two feet.

A thirst for adventure and a bond with nature have stayed with me all my life and led me to the path of a guide. I am a certified hiking and water-touring guide who values safe, meaningful and experience-rich journeys in nature.
