Trip description

Packrafting the Võhandu River – Adventure on One of Estonia's Most Exciting Waterways The Võhandu is one of Estonia's most beloved rivers – home to the world's largest canoe marathon and a place where the water rushes through the remains of old mill dams, forming lively, exhilarating rapids. Now you can experience it in a completely new way: by packraft. A packraft is a small, lightweight and surprisingly stable inflatable boat that lets you run rapids even if a kayak or canoe has always seemed a little daunting. The stability is comparable to a full-sized raft, yet you paddle solo and are in full control of your own journey. The Võhandu's mill-dam rapids and shaded forest corridors are particularly rewarding to explore this way. What to expect We paddle through the most rapid-rich stretch of the Võhandu – the section that contains all the best-known white-water features, including Viira and Süvahavva. If you fall in love with the Viira rapid, it's easy to carry your packraft back up to the dam and run it again – the boat weighs only around 4 kg, so lugging it upstream is no trouble at all. In total we cover approximately 13 km of the Võhandu, from Leevi to the Reo bridge. This is a moderate-level outing – not the easiest day on the water, but well within reach of anyone willing to put in a little effort. Your arms may remind you of the day's work by the time you finish, but you'll be smiling all the way home. Great for Beginners – the boats are stable and easy to manoeuvre, with a much lower risk of capsizing than a kayak or canoe Groups of friends looking for a shared adventure Corporate team-building events Families with sporty children aged 13 and over Practical details Total distance: 13 km Duration: 3–4 hours Equipment: packraft, paddle, buoyancy aid and helmet – all included in the price Group size: up to 10 people
